AGV dance with trucks? How to avoid deadlocks with intelligent planning

When multiple automated vehicles meet in a narrow passage, the attempt for mutual collision avoidance can result in a deadlock in which the robots block each others way. This behavior, affectionately known as “AGV dance”, should be avoided at all costs, both with indoor AGVs and especially with larger vehicles such as automated trucks in depots. This keynote will demonstrate how latest research results can be used to efficiently coordinate multiple vehicles using the helyOS control tower software framework and beyond.

14:30 Retrofit Future Workshop – from analysis to a jointly defined roadmap

Intralogistics systems that were built 10 or more years ago are expected to continue to be used for at least another 10 years. However, technology changes significantly over such a long period of time. Components are discontinued, expertise regarding components and systems disappears, new concepts in IT and OT are developed, .... All of these issues mean that system operators are forced to carry out retrofits. Due to the ever-increasing integration of IT and OT, focusing on individual components or trades is often the wrong approach and can lead to excessive additional costs. Likewise, the costs of a retrofit are often so high that simply “ keeping the functionality” is not enough. The retrofit must add value to the systems or adapt them to new requirements.

In order to address these many challenges together, viastore conducts a “future workshop” with its customers. In this workshop, all risks and opportunities are considered collectively in order to jointly develop a target scenario for the system. Once the goal has been defined, a roadmap is developed together to show how to get from the current situation to the target situation.

Retrofit Future Workshop – from analysis to a jointly defined roadmap

What if employees suddenly became actively involved in the topic of leadership?

Managers receive regular training on the topic of leadership. Everyone has an idea of what strategy to use in the team to get the best possible results. The catch is that not everyone is equally good at taking employees on an appropriate journey as part of “day-to-day” leadership or communicating what exactly the manager is trying to achieve with their behavior.

Employee Integrated Leadership: Managers actively involve their employees in the topic of leadership. Specific goals are discussed. How these are to be achieved. What requirements the manager has of the employees. In return, the employees explain what they expect from leadership. Under what conditions does each individual achieve the best possible performance. Together, a corridor is created in which maximum efficiency can be achieved in the work process.

Responsible purchasing of mobile robotics

The safety of mobile robots is not only a technical requirement, but also an operational necessity with far-reaching consequences for manufacturers and operators. The use of mobile robots in real operating environments requires a deep understanding and strict application of relevant safety standards (especially in the European Economic Area). Only by taking applicable laws and standards into account as early as the planning phase and when selecting equipment can accidents be avoided and cost-intensive interruptions to operations reduced. This ensures the economic and productive success of the entire system.
