Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Lang

Sebastian Lang is professor for »AI application in production and logistics« at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) and senior researcher at the Robotics Systems department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF. He holds a doctoral degree in Engineering from OVGU. Furthermore, he holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering with focus on production technologies and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and logistics. For his doctoral thesis on methods of reinforcement learning for production scheduling, he received the 2023 Promotion Prize of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the 2023 Dissertation Prize of OVGU and the 2024 Logistics Science Prize of the German Logistics Association (BVL). His research interests include studying and applying methods of artificial intelligence, simulation modeling and mathematical optimization for planning, control and optimization problems in production and logistics.
