Thorsten Schmidt

Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schmidt has held the Chair of Technical Logistics at the Technical University of Dresden since 2008.
University of Dresden. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dortmund and Industrial andSystems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After completing his doctorate and habilitation at the TUDortmund, he was head of the “Machines and Systems” department at the Fraunhofer Institute forMaterial Flow and Logistics IML in Dortmund.His work focuses on the development and design of in-house production and logistics systems and the
production and logistics systems and the development and optimization of technical systems forinternal material flow and handling technology.Schmidt is President of the Scientific Society for Technical Logistics (WGTL),
