Oliver Petrovic

Oliver Petrovic is a mechanical engineer from RWTH Aachen University and serves as Senior Engineer and Head of the Department of Automation and Control at the Machine Tool Laboratory WZL of RWTH Aachen University. He is responsible for the strategic direction of research on intelligent and autonomous robotic systems at the intersection of robotics, AI, and digital industrial systems. His department integrates robotics, Industrial IoT, artificial intelligence, and human–machine interaction with emerging paradigms such as Sim2Real, Embodied AI, and agent-based robotic architectures. The focus lies on developing learning-capable, robust, and industrially scalable robotic systems, ranging from smart industrial robots to versatile humanoid platforms.
